Bulls on parade

前陣子MTV的播出的40首重金屬夯歌中，來自Rage Against the Machine 的Bulls on Parade 名列第15名，雖然是一首這麼重金屬的音樂，但是就算不是重金屬樂迷，這首歌的前奏一出來，相信大家也是有一股熟悉感。

充滿饒舌式的唱法，讓我有點想到LP式的Nu-Metal，不過在樂器的演奏配置及技巧上，其實還是很重金屬的Feel。(我可沒說nu-metal是不愛練樂器的人玩的音樂喔...)

會認識這個樂團，其實也是因為MUSE，因為Matt說過，在吉他的啟發上，除了每個吉他手都認定的吉他之神Jimi Hendrix之外，就是這個相當性格的光頭吉他手Tom Morello，而Matt也不時地在演唱會中展現出很有Tom Morello式的吉他技巧。

有人曾說過，搖滾走到重金屬之後，批判的精神已經漸漸式微，但是在90年代出道的Rage Against the Machine，就如同他的團名一樣，以嚴苛的角度去"討伐體制"，因此他們的歌曲中充滿著政治意涵，從這首憤怒的"遊行的公牛"可以看出一二。

這個樂團最讓人津津樂道的一件創舉，就是反抗美國80年代中由高爾夫人發起Parents Music Resource Center的組織，這個組織的宣導原則是將音樂分級化，也就是限制這些所謂會寫一些"不雅"或者暴力的音樂進入孩童的世界，因為他們認為當今美國青年的墮胎率及自殺率升高的原因在這些"不堪入耳"的搖滾樂。用台灣的政治語言解釋呢，我們大概可以稱做"音樂的戒嚴"。於是1993年他們在 Lollapalooza舉辦的音樂祭中，全身赤裸，在胸膛上各寫下P‧M‧R‧C，無聲地站立15分鐘，以抗議PMRC對言論及創作自由的桎梏。不過這麼帶種的行為，不知道是不是埋下這場音樂祭在1997-2003遭受停辦的遠因咧？這個，就不得而知啦...
